Ever since Jane folded this fall, they started sending me Glamour magazine to round out my subscription and I am having a love/hate relationship with it. Normally I avoid fashion mags like this for many reasons, the main being that I am not straight, a compulsive dieter or a size 6 so little in it makes any sense to me. But I am a sex column junkie so I do enjoy turning to see what advice they’ll have on sex this month. Surprisingly (at least to me) I rarely find myself cringing at what I read. Overall the mag seems sex positive,  although still in a very mainstream hetro kind of way.

This month they have a feature (outside of the sex coulmn ghetto even!) called The (New) Ultimate Sex Dos and Don’ts (this mag is ALL about the dos and don’ts). Apparently this is the result of 10,000 readers answers. I was stoked to see that 79% of the women think using sex toys alone is a Do (although only 61% of men think it is). And I was even more excited to see they had a whole little subsection on anal sex! 63% of women say it is a Do (at least to try once) while 81% of the men said the same (I bet your ass that those 81% of men were only thinking in terms of doing the lady… I’d love to see the results of men taking it up the butt).  And here is where I got super mad..

OK, so let me get this right: You are an ok guy for “convincing” your lady into taking it up the butt, but if she wants to, she is too much of a slut to meet your mom? ohmygod I hate this guy. It is freakin’ 2007! How can people still have these double standards for female sexuality vs male sexuality. Arg!!

Anyway…the good news is 88% of women said it was a Don’t if he was the only one enjoying it. However, only 72% of men agreed with that. ahem…
