Check out these hilarious abstinence ads. Personally, I love the cartoon Hitler one… too soon?

I was tipped off to this awesome video project called “Immersion: Porn” on BoingBoing – Robbie Cooper pieced together interviews with people talking about their relationship to porn, intercut with videos of them masturbating to their favorite movies… but you only see them from the neck up. Kinda like the Libido DVD Orgasm! Faces of Ecstacy, except with interviews and a little more edge.

It’s incredibly personal, illuminating, and titillating. Check it out.

SEX WORKERS OUTREACH PROJECT-CHICAGO PRESENTS- An intriguing exploration of the Asian massage parlor industry in Providence, RI “HAPPY ENDINGS?” in support of SWOP-Chicago

presented by Clarisse Thorn and hosted by the Leather Archives & Museum

Film Screening and Post-Screening Discussion

Friday, June 12, 7PM Leather Archives & Museum

6418 N. Greenview (at Devon) Chicago, IL 60626 (773) 761-9200

$5-10 suggested donation to SWOP-Chicago

Rhode Island: the only state where prostitution is decriminalized. It had been over 25 years since five prostitutes sued the state of Rhode Island for selective prosecution and prostitution laws were removed from the books, when documentarians Tara Hurley and Nick Marcoux turned their cameras on the underbelly of “The Renaissance City”.

Watch the drama unfold in Asian massage parlors across Providence as Mayor David Ciccilline pushes to close the prostitution “loophole”. Follow Heather, a Korean immigrant, over two years as she manages the massage parlor. Learn about the women who work in the spas. Hear from the police who arrest them. Watch the fight for and against the legislation. The film includes subtitled interviews with Korean women who work in the spas, clients who frequent the spas, police, politicians from 1980 and today, local news footage, local radio call-in shows, and “voiced” reviews from internet escort review boards. Read more, watch the trailer, and see clips from the film at [ http://happyendingsdoc.com/ ].

Just recently — May 2009 — prostitution is in the process of being criminalized again in Rhode Island. Come out, watch the documentary, and talk about it afterwards. What do you think about sex work? Is the change in Rhode Island law fair or unfair? Delicious snacks will be served, and discussion will follow! This is a benefit for the Sex Workers Outreach Project, and we’re requesting a $5-10 donation from attendees.

“Boy I Am” (2006)
A look at the experiences of three young Female-to-Male transpeople addresses the way conversations about trans issues can run into resistance from the many queer women who view transitioning as a “trend” or as an anti-feminist act that taps into male privilege.

Hi Friends,

I just wanted to share this great question & following discussion about Orgasm on one of my favorite sites feministing.com. If you are a woman who has had trouble “achieving” orgasm, you might want to read this. No simple solution, but some good advice.

xoxo,

Check out this awesome review of our G-Force Dildo on Sex N’ Shoes!

A little teaser:

I’ve tried a lot of g-spot toys, but this is honestly one of my favorites. The long flexible neck and rounded head just hit my spot – it does it for me every time, and don’t get me started about pairing it with the Hitachi Magic Wand on my clit!

Read the rest of the review!

As a former student of the humanities, I am made uncomfortable by “just-so stories” of evolutionary causality. Nevertheless, it would be naive to dismiss them outright simply because they make one uncomfortable.

This particular article intrigues me because it offers a potential explanation for the female orgasm that does not appear to be derogatory or particularly damaging (as often you can tell more about the researcher who develops these theories than you can about what the theories purport to explain). It’s still important to realize the limitations of the theories, but nevertheless, this quote caught my eye, and is certainly preferable to the formerly-lauded “up suck” theory:

Maybe, [female orgasm] is designed to be more than a little hard to get, adaptive precisely because it can’t be too readily summoned, so that when it arrives, it means something.

The theory being that in couples (in this particular case, male-female couples, though I don’t think it need be deliberately exclusive), the experience of orgasm on the part of the female is a means of telling her that she is with a suitable partner who takes his/her time during sex and is unworried about rivals interrupting them (or, in non-caveman speak, other distractions or concerns).  Interesting examples of bears and macaques are given to illustrate the point.

Whether you agree or not, however, go ahead and read the summary here, and if you’re feeling saucy, you can download the whole chapter. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
